Lean Workshops

Lean Manufacturing Workshop - Our Lean manufacturing workshop is a simulation workshop that appeals to a diverse audience from managers to technical and production employees. This full day lean simulation workshop demonstrates the principles and concepts of lean manufacturing through lectures and multiple hands-on simulations. It is also intended to provide management staff and employees at all levels of your organization a basic understanding of lean implementation, and the benefits to be gained.

Lean Manufacturing workshop instructors have specialized knowledge of Lean Concepts as well as practical experience in their application to a manufacturing environment. The material is presented in an interactive fashion with the participants to address their specific questions and relate to their manufacturing experience. Students learn from a variety of ways including written guidebooks, classroom style presentation, and hands-on production simulation activities, so that no matter how the individual learns best, there is a medium to meet their needs. Participants tell us that the simulation activities are instrumental in “turning on the light bulb” on how effective the techniques can be.

Specific Lean Workshops

In addition to our lean simulation workshop, we offer an extensive collection of workshops that elaborate on individual Lean topics and techniques including: Seven Wastes, Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Setup Reduction, Total Productive Maintenance, etc. When offered on-site, at your facilities, we intersperse classroom style instruction with field exercises that enable participants to apply the concepts presented to actual shop floor conditions. These additional lean workshops are often given within our client projects to facilitate lean implementation:

7 Wastes Workshop- This one day 7 wastes workshop trains employees on the principles of the Seven Wastes. The seven wastes or “muda” are described, examples are provided, and the impact of reducing or eliminating these wastes is presented. Exercises give the participants practical knowledge with the 7 wastes.

Continuous Pull Workshop - This workshop concentrates on the technical details required to achieve continuous product flow. It is concerned with the analysis of existing processes, the selection of products to include in a workcell, and the design and layout of the workcell.

Kaizen Process - This kaizen workshop trains employees on Kaizen principles prior to HPK Group’s facilitation of a Kaizen Event.

Principles of 5S Workshop - This lean manufacturing workshop trains employees on the principles of 5S during HPK Group’s facilitation of a Kaizen Event or other lean implementation project.

Setup Reduction Workshop - This lean manufacturing workshop trains employees on Setup and Changeover Reduction principles prior to HPK Group’s facilitation of Setup/Changeover reduction projects.

Standard Work Workshop - In this lean manufacturing workshop, we will analyze what constitutes a good work standard and we will discuss how to design and implement them. This is an interactive course that will give you essential information in how to create more effective standardized work instructions.

Team leader Training - This half day workshop trains team leaders prior to a kaizen event.

Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Workshop - This lean manufacturing workshop trains employees on the principles of TPM prior to HPK Group’s facilitation of TPM implementation projects.

Train the Trainer - This lean manufacturing workshop trains Lean Facilitators, Lean Champions, and/or Value Stream Managers in Leadership techniques.

Value Stream Mapping (VSM ) Workshop - The value stream mapping workshop covers the process diagramming method known as VSM - Value Stream Mapping. Classroom sections alternate with field exercises to provide experience in applying the VSM methodology to a practical situation.

Six Sigma Manufacturing Workshop

During this one day six sigma workshop, we present the Six Sigma methodology that has dramatically improved processes for Motorola, Honeywell, and GE. Because the 6 sigma workshop size is limited, participants can interact throughout the instruction phase. Statistical concepts are presented and there are exercises to facilitate the understanding of the tools presented.

The workshop covers Six Sigma topics on activities generally utilized by Green Belt practitioners. Participants gain experience by working through numerous statistical examples to calculate the mean, upper and lower level control limits, create X-bar and R charts, etc. We find that the concepts in this material are well accepted by a diverse audience from management, supervision, technical and production employees.

Six Sigma / Lean Manufacturing Workshop

This 2 day workshop presents Six Sigma and Lean healthcare - the two major process improvement initiatives for manufacturing. The goal is to not only introduce you to these techniques but also provide you with the practical tools and information you need to make your process improvement program effective.
